The Volunteer Week Giveaway is run by Sport Whanganui.
When can I nominate someone?
Nominations open on Thursday 11 June 2026 and close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 June 2026.
Who can enter?
- You must live in New Zealand to submit a nomination.
- Nominees must live in the Whanganui, Rangitīkei, or Ruapehu districts.
- Sport Whanganui employees, board members, and their immediate family members cannot win a prize.
How do I nominate someone?
Simply complete the online nomination form and tell us why your nominee deserves a ‘shout’. Entry is free.
You can nominate as many people, or groups, as you like. Please only nominate each person/group once.
Who can be nominated?
Any volunteer in the Whanganui, Ruapehu or Rangitīkei region, who contributes positively to the sport and recreation sector. They could be a school sports coach, manager, official, or van driver. They might set up practice each week, make lunches at camps, ferry kids to and from games, or help set up draws each week. No task is too big or small – we want to celebrate everyone who gets involved for the good of others. You can also nominate a group – the prize platters would be perfect for sharing at your next committee meeting or bringing as a plate to your prizegiving!
What are the prizes?
There are five (5) location-based prizes available. Nominators select their location of choice when they submit a nomination.
