I am from a small village along the Whanganui River called Hiruharama/Jerusalem. I have lived in Ohakune for the past 10 years with my small family, my husband Kayz, our eldest boy Manaaki, our youngest girl Isla-Belle and my Dad – Koro Mush.
I have a Bachelor in Education and studied through Waikato University. For the past few years I have been teaching at Ohakune Primary School in the Ruapehu region. I have a strong background in health and physical education, driven by a deep commitment to the hauora of my students, others, and our community we live in.
My hobbies and interests include following my children around the motu watching them live their lives and playing the sports they love. I also love to play basketball and any sport that is available to me in this area. I enjoy learning about our maramataka and trying to implement it into my everyday life.
I have been actively involved in our small community promoting healthy active learning, guiding students to develop and maintain supportive physical and emotional environments through sports such as basketball and ki-o-rahi.
When I saw the Healthy Active Learning Advisor role, friends of mine suggested that I would be great doing this. After asking a million questions I decided it was a great fit for my own learning and for the tamariki I will get to work with in the future.
I am really looking forward to building relationships with our kura within the Ruapehu region.
