Losing your balance as you age is a big injury risk, so ACC have launched the Nymbl app to help older New Zealanders prevent falls and fractures.

Sport Whanganui recently held a launch for the new app with an interactive session for anyone who was interested in learning how it works. The participants watched a presentation by Sandy Keen, Regional Injury Prevention partner from ACC and were then shown how the app works on their phone and taken through some of the exercises with Krystal Boyes, Fracture Liaison Administrator at Whanganui Regional Health Network.

Research shows falls often happen when a person is distracted. It also shows using Nymbl can improve a person’s balance by up to 30 per cent.

Sport Whanganui Active Wellbeing Manager Deb Byers says “We were thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the launch and to be able to support the new app in our communities. Maintaining strength and balance is very important and we look forward to assisting those trying the new fun and easy-to-do exercises.”
