Kaitohotohu Whakaako – Learning & Impact Advisor

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Kaitohotohu Whakaako – Learning & Impact Advisor to join our team. You’ll be someone who can build strong relationships and translate community insights into meaningful action. This is a full-time, permanent position of approximately 32 hours per week.

About the role

The Learning & Impact Advisor supports the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of programmes, with a strong emphasis on measuring impact. This role works closely with all other members of the Sport Whanganui team to build capability and ensure best practice, while promoting a learning-oriented culture.

As the Learning & Impact Advisor, you will use your leadership, skills, and influence to:

  • Provide strategic monitoring and evaluation support to management and delivery teams.
  • Support teams to understand, interpret and apply learnings.
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and recommendations.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for funders, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure evaluation approaches are practical and sustainable.

About you

You are a confident communicator who can explain technical concepts simply. You’ll combine excellent planning and problem-solving skills with an empathetic and encouraging approach. Practical and solution focused, you are an excellent listener and are comfortable providing advice. Your skills and experience ideally include:

  • Tertiary qualification (degree-level) or equivalent experience in social sciences or a related field
  • Solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience and confidence in facilitating workshops
  • A commitment to upholding the principles Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Previous experience in New Zealand sport, government or non-profit sectors highly valued.
  • A valid New Zealand driver’s license.
