AllSports – Halberg’s Community-Based Disability Sport Programme

Halberg AllSports is the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation’s community programme to enhance the lives of physically disabled young people by enabling them to participate in sport and recreation. The programme carries the Foundation’s work through to areas where it will truly make a difference – in the community, the school-ground and the family home.

The AllSports website is a ‘one stop information shop’ for physically disabled young people and their families. It has a club finder tool to match their interests and needs to existing sport opportunities around the country.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics New Zealand is first and foremost a sports organisation but it provides athletes with far more than the physical benefits of sport. It’s about fun, friendships and team spirit; it’s about a feeling of belonging, and ultimately improving quality of life.

The sports provided in Whanganui are:

• Basketball
• Bocce
• Equestrian
• Swimming

If you are interested in any of these or would like to volunteer please feel free to contact Ross at rossk@sportwhanganui.co.nz or Tristen at tristenm@specialolympics.org.nz or follow the link to the Special Olympics New Zealand website.
