Former pro-basketballer, now Commercial Manager for the All Blacks, Whanganui-born Megan Compain will headline a special Women Who Lead event as part of La Fiesta 2024.

A wide range of talented young sportspeople were celebrated at the 2023 Mitre 10 MEGA Whanganui Secondary School Sports Awards held at Cullinane College on Wednesday, 1 November.

Nominations are being sought for the Whanganui Sports Hall of Fame for the first time since 2019.

As well as running regular information sessions ranging in topics from parent education to funding, leadership and governance training, our team also works side-by-side with sports clubs to help them plan for the future.

Held during Youth Week, the inaugural Battle of the Codes for secondary students was a huge success with 130 rangatahi completing an interactive course.

After only starting to offer cheerleading in January this year, Whanganui Boys and Girls Gym Club (WBGGC) already has two full squads in training.
