SUMMARY:Mitre 10 MEGA Whanganui All Ability Athletics Day
DESCRIPTION:The first Mitre 10 MEGA Whanganui All-Ability Athletics Day will take place on Friday, 14 March at Cooks Gardens. Supported by The Halberg Foundation, Special Olympics, Whanganui Regional Health Network and Ngā Tai o te Awa, the day promises to be full of fun and empowering activities for participants of all abilities.\nThe event will be divided into two sessions: Secondary school rangatahi will take part in the morning, followed by primary school tamariki in the afternoon. The All-Ability Athletics Day is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all, encouraging participants to engage in sports and physical activities in a way that suits their individual needs and preferences. Much like the Mitre 10 MEGA Whanganui Tough Kid Quiet Hour, the focus is on providing an environment where everyone can take part in their own way, space and time.\nParticipants will rotate through various activities, including jumping and throwing activities, running and wheelchair races, and a fun relay race to finish the day. The emphasis will be on enjoyment, teamwork, and personal achievement, with activities tailored to suit all levels of ability.\nIn addition to the student participants, a kaumatua group from Ngā Tai o te Awa will also join in the fun, further promoting intergenerational engagement and community spirit.\nStudents who are keen to participate in this event can register through their school. Whānau and friends are very welcome to come along to watch and support from the grandstands.\nFor any enquiries, please contact Sarah Craig at Sport Whanganui on sarahc@sportwhanganui.co.nz.\n
